4th NordicRAS Workshop on Recirculating Aquaculture Systems 2017

12-13 October 2017, Aalborg, Denmark

Field excursion 14 October 2017

Organised by the Nordic Network on Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (NordicRAS) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Aqua)

NB. We advice to book your accommodation as soon as possible! Hotels in Aalborg will be very busy during the workshop due to the concurrent DanFish trade fair!

Background

Fish farming in recirculation aquaculture systems (RAS) is a fast-growing industry and the technology develops rapidly. An increasing number of large-scale RAS are constructed for production and on-growing of different species in both freshwater and seawater. There is, however, still a lot to be learned on how best to design and operate these systems including many new challenges arising when operating with saltwater.

On the 4th international NordicRAS workshop, farmers, operators, technology- and service providers, and researchers will present and discuss the current development, experiences gained, and recently achieved research results.

Workshop topics

  • On-growing of different species in RAS
  • Saltwater RAS
  • Particles and microbial water quality
  • Gasses and degassing
  • Online monitoring
  • Diseases in RAS
  • Waste treatment

The Aquaculture Engineering Society (AES) is co-sponsoring and organising a session on saltwater RAS during the workshop.

When and where

The workshop is held at Aalborg Congress & Culture Center. It starts 12 October 2017 at 10:00 (registration from 09:00 to 10:00) and ends 13 October 2017 at 15:00.

Excursion

There will be a field trip on 14 October 2017 for a limited number of participants to state-of-the-art commercial RAS facilities. Unfortunately, all seats are already taken but you may send an e-mail to gsby@aqua.dtu.dk if you wish to be added to the waiting list
